The Public Sector Pension Investment Board (PSP Investments) is a crown corporation established by Parliament by the Public Sector Pension Investment Board Act (September 1999). The mandate of PSP Investments is to manage employer and employee contributions made after April 1, 2000 to the federal Public Service, the Canadian Forces and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police pension funds. PSP Investments has recently been given the mandate to manage the employer and employee contributions made after March 1, 2007 to the Reserve Force Pension Fund. Annual net contributions to these pension funds are approximately $4 billion and forecasted net contributions are expected to remain positive for the next 27 years. Assets are invested through in-house and external managers.

POSITION PROFILE
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Reconcile, on a monthly basis, the value of investments in subsidiary accounting ledgers with their value as recorded by the Investment Administration department.
- Help prepare quarterly and year end financial statements for PSP’s Private Equity subsidiaries.
- Help prepare year-end audit files for each of the Private Equity subsidiaries.
- Inform the Investment Administration department of the income and distributions of all investments and ensure they are accurately recorded.
- Act as a liaison between the Private Equity and Accounting departments.
- Reconcile transaction costs of new investments.
- Reconcile management fees on new and existing investments.
- Track and record cash calls for all investments.
- Prepare bank reconciliations of all subsidiaries.
- Prepare journal entries.
PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting
- Recognized accounting designation (CA, CMA, CGA) required
Experience
- Five to seven years of experience in a similar position in the financial services and/or private equity investment sectors
Knowledge
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel and other MS software
- Bilingualism (French/English)
- Excellent computer skills
- Knowledge of Great Plains Accounting System is an asset
- Knowledge of private equity investing/valuation is an asset
